i havent actually read anywhere that you can't, but i doubt it.
How would you get the armor? it becomes customized the minute you buy it, and armor vendors only offer armor from your primary.
it's also a balance thing. a E/W shouldnt be allowed plate mail, for instance :)

Exactly, you can't, and shouldn't be able to.

if you look at the armor you can see some types are for cross class. like gladiators for W have extra energy for W who like to cast. necros have two 70 armor sets for necros that want to tank.

Exactly, you can't, and shouldn't be able to. And why not, I'm sure it could be compensated for. Let say, more armor less energy.

they probably have it this way for balace reasons. also it would take lots of time to make the visuals of all armor types for all professions.

Your right I suppose they could, but it would take the class farther away from what it was designed to do. The way it is now is pretty standardized in rpg terms, light armored casters, medium armored ranged/rogugish types, and heavy armored tanks. Personally, I like it this way as it just plain works, and it has in many games before this. After all what good would an elementalist be who has 20-28 energy and 2 pips of regen but could stand there and take more hits?
Its kind of a moot point now though, take a "105 monk" into fissure and he'll last any longer than any warrior will despite his AL. Not to mention all the skills out there that boost armor...I just don't see the reason, but thats just IMO.

I think it would ruin the whole tradition of a warrior being the one to rush in and battle it out. That's one of the reasons monks, elementalists, etc. stay back and cast.

if all classes (6) can have every class of amor (6). male and female types (2). approximatly 5 types of armor per class.
6*6*2*5=360 armor designs
we would never see the new update.
