Hello, folks.
GW customer support sent me here to try and rally your opinions and ideas for commerce tools in GW, for example an auction house. They said the devs read this board, and listen to popular opinion. I feel compelled to test that claim, but I am most interested gauging your interest.
The benefits are many, but these are the big sellers in my mind:
1. Commerce traffic steadily floods the general chat channel.
2. Buying and selling is so cumbersome, our valuable time and energy are fundamentally wasted.
3. Would add undeniable value to the Guild Wars expansion that launches it. I would definitely buy an expansion if it included this.
I want tools to aid in-game commerce, and reduce the timesink, spamming, and running around involved in trying to find buyers and sellers. I want to see the economy level out based on competetive pricing rather than impulse buying.
GW commerce as it is now reminds me PRECISELY of old EQ1. Go to a town and spam, or read spam. The factors were timing and patience, and MAN did this waste my time and try my patience.
EQ1 bazaar was an improvement, but in order to sell it had the ridiculous requirement of chaining your character, game account, and computer and electricity bill to the auction house. EQ2 failed miserably by continuing the requirement, and Sony should be so ashamed they should give up creating multiplayer games.
WoW did it right, in my opinion. The only bad thing to come of their auction house that I'm aware of is someone accidentally buying a stack of leather for a small fortune. Oops, guy, pay attention.
GW did not even try. I hope that is only because it was not intended for the first release, and I hope that design and development are already working on it!
So what do you think, my fellow GW-ers? Vote in the poll and post your opinions!
End.
