I have played guild ward for quite awhile now and after hitting the level 20 cap the gameplay was a bit sparse. I got rather bored or the game.
I would like to see an expansion that focuses more on PvE than PvP. Perhaps giving the choice to abandon PvP and continue on with no level cap. This would also mean we would need more map areas to keep people entertained. Right now no matter what path you take it seems like you are pretty much forced into PvP and getting the best material for that is not very hard.
This leads to another thing i think EVERY MMO should have regardless of focus of gameplay. VERY rare items. Things that will give a player an edge. Not like runes or somehitng that will get whored to death in the market. Something only dropped. Like a wearable armor piece with special stats. Or an uber sword. I mean there are some great weapons out there but nothing truely rare or significantly different. With the great graphics engine and amazing talent of the creators it's a wonder only a few item actually look cool.
All in all I'd like to see updates with new items from common to rare and an expansion for us PvE players. It would appeal to a MUCH wider audience and it wouldn't get so....boring after the level 20 cap.
Hope you find this helpful.

i think the purpose of this game is to provide a balance of PvE and PvP. if you want more PvE and less PvP maybe WoW is for you.
as for "phat lewt" check out the first question of the recient interview:
Guild Wars:
It's an interesting question. This would tie in to basic principles of Guild Wars: The game is not based on the notion of "uber" items, and balance is the foremost objective, always. But what about the "collectability" and sheer coolness factor of having unique items and special looks for our characters? The answer is "Yes, why not!?"

I just don't see that balance anymore after level 20. There's really no reason to go out hunting because you're already at the top of your class. There's nothing more to work for. And arena's and GvG only hold attention for so long. I'm just thinkin that in an update they can have the road split. A PvP and PvE. I know they are really trying to make this a great PvP game i just wish i woulda known that it was pure PvP after a point before i forked over 50 bones.
And on the WoW note. I would love to have that game. But my income at 16 does not quite suffice for the monthly fee. Which is why i was so excited about GW...and it was AWESOME...till level 20...when you can't do anything fun but PvP or make a new character...
but on a lighter note...I am impressed how the PvE works and was surprised they pulled of PvP so well in an MMO. I hope to see it grow and continue...Maybe one day i'll like PvP heh.
thanks for the input.

if so i guess you will just have to wait for sorrows and then the exp pack next year. the devs can only build content so fast my friend.

That is your personal opinion, not everyone thinks that way and an opinion isnt enough for the devs too make an expansion

Mal.. Are you mentaly ill? Or did you just fail the 1st grade a couple of times? because i couldn't read throught the 80+ spelling errors you made on your first post, and i dont know why my response made you mad.. Because it wasn't even directed too you (as i said, i couldn't even read it)... And was in no way offensive
Think twice, if this isnt an impossible feat for you too accomplish, before starting an argument.. Especialy when your grammar skills are exactly what a drunken 6 year old's would look like

I guess i'm over my ***** mood this morning. heh. i do like the game alot. i just think they really should have an option to remove the level cap for PvE players. it'd made exploring more fun. You'd have loot and levels to look forward to. I guess an expansion is kinda silly for that. But i do think there should be a no cap option. Even if it means only PvE. i think it would suit the PvE and PvP crowds alot better. Perfect balance.

ah! thank you for the civilized response Ransom!
I think your right.. The PvE needs more things too keep the lvl 20s who beat the game more interested.... But you can't say the devs arent trying too fix this... They are planning to release another area for lvl 20s too enjoy: Sorrow's Furnace
When this update is coming out i don't know, But since its a Summer's Update, i'd say pretty soon
Till then, all we can do is wait anxiously

if they removed the level cap you would still not have any more content to explore than there is currently avaliable. you would just be grinding to gain higher levels. is that your idea of fun?!? :D

Im a doctor in the making i know icant spell very well but its a good think cus i can insult you and get away with it.
either way WoW looks good i want it but i cant afford it. I stll love Guild with my mesmer cus its funny kiling eles.
Another question why is being called a noob such a bad thing i presume before you got into the game you were a noob i also presume when you first got the game you were a noob. I thing its a gamer thing but its stupid.

Yea i think raising the cap would be better than none. It would give more of a goal to reach. Even WoW has a cap. It's 70...and that would take months of playing time to get to. And it would be a major goal. I think this would keep people more interested for longer.
maldarkangel : please quit the flame war. I don't think anyone cares anymore
maldarkangel

whats the flame war sorry?
also if they did remove the level cap youd get people lvl 128 with like 3000xp fightingsomeone with 456 thast not right it still need a cap just how much of a cap. I enjoy lv grinding sometimes but i think guildwars is smart in the way it stops it cus it would get out of hand completley romoveing the cap. ..i shure wish we could meet other people out side the cites and stuff.....and kill them in a 1v1 :D ,
if you cant understand what ive said copy it and paste it in word.

why
why are you exxagerating thing like that?
i said to rise the cap not to remove it!
like level cap of 35-40 would have been perfect dont you agree?
im not saying that the level cap is a bad idea but it is way to low and too easy to gain.

I think maybe it would have been nice to have a slightly higher level cap from the begining, but to implement that know would mean completely revamping attributes and all things tied to them, such as skills and armor.
Ransom
09-04-2005, 03:35 AM
I don't think it would mean so much revamping esspecialy if it was a non PvP adjustment of leveling, which is what i really want to push for. I think the cap is for PvP players to give it a challenge on skill not so much hours played.
For PvE players skills wouldn't need to be revamped per se but possibly the max limit on the moved upwawrds so we ddin't max them out at level 25 or so. I think if we gained attribute points per level this would still be good. we could keep getting the same amount as the last level but of course it would be an exponential time difference. So leveling would become a much longer task as you reached higher but you could max out many more skills after them.
I think overall a higher level cap in the future would be nice. Like i stated earlier i think it should be a choice or maybe even a quest reward so PvP players and PvE players could distinguish themselves. Maybe even have drops in high level PvE that would give boosts to PvP players who couild afford to buy them off of other players.
I hope to see some sort of change for PvE and i think that the level cap being so low is really hindering any major separation from the PvP world.

I think they should up the available levels at the next major (paid for) update, think about it, 4 years from now, maybe 6 major updates from now, 7 huge maps and your the max level before finishing the first map?
PvP isn't a problem, there are different level arenas now, like up to level 10 in Ascalon, next major update add an up to level 30 arena and so on each update

guild wars is supposed to be cooperative
Ransom
09-05-2005, 10:55 PM
I don't think it is so much a fight as a discussion on things we want to see. I think since this is a disscussion board on suggestions we like to see, an answer shouldn't be don't buy it or quit because that wouldn't help anyone. I'm not saying this HAS to happen or even have much hopes that it will. But i'd like to see more thought put into it that leave or quit.
Yes i think guild wars is very cooperative. I love the party system and the ability to form guilds for PvE and PvP applications. I think it's great to have a guild system in a game like this. Can't wait for updates and maps. It's gonna be amazing to see what this turns into.
