Someone said that one had to pay for patches (i.e like the major patches in Ragnarok Online). If this is true (think expansion packs), will they be downloaded, or can one just buy them from a shop (i dont have a credit card, hence I wont be able to buy any future patches if any)

If you don't buy expantion packs, you can still play.
I am estimating them to be $50-$100
BUT still, for no monthly fee, and no expantion requirements, it's all good.

You'll probably see a price range of $30-$50. Most games and expansions do not go over that price range. I think someone would rip Arena.net a new #@%&$%! if they charged $100 for an expansion.

Look at Evercrack 30-50 dollars per expansion pack AND a 13.00/month fee that makes you download patches every single time you log on...

I spent around $100.00 for Guild Wars CE (Canadian $)....and I've played for 50 odd hours already....cheap entertainment for a couple bucks an hour!
After the first expansion, I'll probably have spend a few hundred hours in-game.....the cost per play will be only cents!
If cost is an isssue, I'd still be able to play the regular GW for the next few years...bringing the cost literally to pennies!
Hard to find entertainment for less, unless its illegal or between consenting adults!

lol what if its both
Hmmm, completely forgot about international costs
In my country, the cost of this game is worth 10 months of MMORPGs localized

If it went that high, no one would buy the expanison. We would wait for the price to go down.

After playing mmorpgs for years at $13-$15 a month a pop, $50 for an expansion would be a drop in the bucket. But, $30 sounds extra reasonable. Just hope it can be bought in retail stores. And those other mmorps had expansions plus a monthly fee. You can't find entertainment this cheap and fun anywhere else as far as I'm concerned.
I just hope they put level restrictions on any new armor pieces ;)~
yes you gotta love the no monthly fee! lol i wouldnt be playing if there was one.

I left wow for GW because I couldn;t see paying a monthly fee to replay the game from 1-60 because my 60 character had nothing to do... At least with GW when i have nothing left to do I can always shelve it till the next Expansion without feeling guilty like I would with wow...
