I play most comfortably with a melee character that, although deals decent damage at most, lasts longer than most characters in the battlefield, defence-wise. I was thinking of a warrior/(healer) build, but do you guys have any other suggestions Thanks

These are considered "Tanks"
They survive well, and are crutial for Teamwork ^.^

If you wanted a really defensive warrior I think you're right about having a monk secondary just because you ware able to heal.

So a good tank build would be a warrior with monk as secondary, focused on healing prayers? Hmmm, wouldnt a protection prayer based warrior be more appropriate?

It depends on what your going for. Protection is good except for that you cant self heal and have to rely on a monk to heal you. If you wanted to be very densive I guess you could do both.
