Is it just me or do these suck?
Incendiary Arrows (Elite)
Elite Preparation. For 8 seconds, targets struck by your arrows are interrupted and set on fire for (Min: 1 - Max: 3) seconds.
They suck because:
1) The preparation only last 8 seconds. Now factor in the couple seconds between shooting your next target, and you got off 4 Incendiary Arrows, maybe 5.
2) The burning effect is what makes this skill "awesome", but at max level it only last 3 seconds. (Min: 1 seconds - Max: 3 seconds) This gain of ONLY 2 seconds is spread across 12 attribute points in Wilderness Survival. Talk about a crappy improvement per level.
So in essence, your 4-5 Incendiary deal NO bonus damage per shot (i.e. +18 damage), and burn for 3 seconds.
NOTE* Burn deals -14hp/sec
[Minimal damage = (1 * 14) = 14 damage from burning.]
[Maximum damage = (3 * 14) = 42]
Then you have to wait for the cooldown....
Now let's look at Apply Poison:
Apply Poison
Preparation. For 24 seconds, foes struck by your physical attacks become Poisoned for (Min: 3 - Max: 15) seconds.
Why Apply Poison is better than Incendiary Arrows.
1) This is NOT an Elite skill
2) It last for 24 seconds, as opposed to only 8.
3) The poison effect last for 15 seconds max, minimum 3. Where as Incendiary Arrows MAX is only 3....
NOTE* Poison deals -8hp/sec
Damage analysis:
[Minimal damage = (3 * 8 ) = 24 damage from burning.]
[Maximum damage = (15 * 8 ) = 120]
AND No wait for cooldown, because it is less than 24 seconds.
I think Incendiary Arrows seriously needs ONE of the following:
1) Changed to NOT be an Elite skill
2) Increase the duration of the preparation (8 seconds ---> ~16)
3) Increase burn duration (3 second burn ---> ~9 seconds)

of course....
you could always use the Elite Apply Poison, then choose incindiary arrows (ignite, kindle, whatever) for the 2ndary damage.
Thus you'd have poison, fire and explosions all in one shot.
But.. that's my opinion.. I digress...

I use Poison Arrow + Poisoner's Bow = 27 seconds of Poison (216 damage over time).
Spammable with 2 energy cost (with my Expertise), and a 1 second cooldown.
I also use Ignite Arrows for splash damage with Double Shot (double explosions).
And, yes, you could use Incendiary Arrows + Apply Poison..that does not change the fact that the Incendiary Skill sucks. ALSO you are using 2 preparations at the same time, which is NOT a good idea. Most everyone would agree.

You could use the elite apply posion (or is it poison arrow, I forget) in conjunctin with incindiary arrows, whereas you can't use the non-elite one though. So.. you only really have one prep on and one elite.

No.
ELITE:
Poison Arrow
Incendiary Arrows
NOT ELITE:
Apply Poison
So to do what you are suggesting, you would have to use 2 preparations....you can't use 2 elites like you are saying.

Incend doesnt suck it is all in what you are trying to do and the other skills you use with it.
Most the skills in the game look like crap if you only look at the skill itslef and not what it can combo with!

I think u guys overlooked the fact that incendiary interrupts the target and that is the main function of the spell. the damage inflicted by the burning is just a good extra. thats why this is an elite spell

You can use Choking Gas for that though. NOt only is NOT an elite skill, but it interrupts even during the periods your arrows aren't hitting the enemy, and the interrupting gas stays for 3 more seconds after the last arrow. AND choking gas spread to multi targets. Now that is what I am talking about.
Where as Incendiary Arrows only interrupt on hit.
I don't know.... its a fun skill to use but I only get off about 4 shots on average of it. I can do more interrupt to multiple targets with choking gas...

Well, you got a choice here, you can either stay on your little pedestal and call the skill crap even though others dissagree and many use it regularly and kick ass with it or you can open your mind and look at other skills to go wiht it to make it the best it can be!
Your choice!

Ok guys let me clear something up.Fragility + 1 second burn from incendiary means A LOT of dmg.I dont know why noone mentions it, especialy experienced players such as Stinger.

Because it is too easy to counter especially with only one source of Fragility or not capped. If Fragility is removed then all you have is a Ranger doing a poorly specced Incend and that stinks!
Fragility works best with several sources of conditions and short durations gets the best results. The drawback here is if they remove or block the hex, or get the right prot or heal skills on the target you now have a bunch of people that are ineffective.
Its much like the old Smite builds, if you shut down the smiters they loose as it is the basis of thier build and what is relied on. Very seldom does a Smite build, or spike build, or gimmick beat "good" teams.
Now.......if you make a build that works well without fragility and then add it as a kicker then you ahve a build that can win consistantly. That means dont build for short durations just build to kill without Fragility but toss it on anyway for the added punch.........same with a skill like Soul Barbs...etc

Fragility got nerfed. It's not A LOT of dmg. Fragility can be easily removed. Incendiary only lasts 8 seconds. Might as well Mark of Rodgort. On a side note, spike damage is always better than DOT. I.E. poison deals less damage per second. So you can't really say poison "deals more damage"... it deals more damage after X seconds yes... but that gives ample time to heal through it. And it doesn't interrupt. Compare incendiary to something like dwarven battle stance.

As always, I must agree with stinger. A build built around fragility, or just about any skill, espically a hex, isnt all that good in alot of situtations. However, as he said, if you have room for another skill, and you cause conditions, you might want to consider adding it on.
