Hey all :)

So I've been surfin around the past week eagerly waiting for next Wed when I can play GW again... and I found this video on the VN boards:
http://vullcan.net/download.php?view.25

After thinking about it a long while I'm confused about how he has his skills set up...
It looks to me like he's running: signet of devotion, Orison of healing, healing touch, healing hands, Divine healing, Shielding Hands, Resurrect, and Balthazar's Spirit

... I was very impressed when i saw how often his power was regening when he was in combat (must have been the balthazar's spirit), and was also impressed that he could still defend himself with shielding hands and healing hands... However this is where I'm confused..
As far as I know the best way to spec a monk is to go with the 10, 11, 10 spec... but then how can he still have good heals, good divine favor, a good shielding hands spell (protection prayers), and a good balthazar's spirit (smiting prayers)... thats 4 attributes to spec...

^^So ya I've gotta be a noob or something.. theres probably a very simple answer and I'm just completely missing it^^
If anyone is able to help me out here I'd appreciate it, I'd almost like to try a build like that when GW comes out (tho still change some things.. like drop the rez o.O)

Thanks ((and I wasn't sure whether this went under skills board or templates soo...))

I am going to watch it in a little bit, but form what I see your saying, I think its possible he had runes. Also his scapl design. And he may jsut be that good, or another monk cast enchantment on him, but I will take a look and then edit this post.

Good baltazars spirit? He only needs 1 in smiting to use it right?Isnt balthazars spirit always +1 energ, 1/3 of a strike of adrenaline/per hit?

that could be ... that was one of the things I had pondered about.. I had never used Balthazar's Spirit during the BWE's... it may very well be that you dont need high smiting prayer for good Balthazar's Spirit

Actually, you do not need any points in Smiting in order to benefit from Balthazar's Spirit

I had a War/Mo with a Zealous blade running Balthazar's Spirit and it works great when I am was farming the Zealots and Hill Giants

Excellent, I'll definitely have to experiment with that spell when GW comes out... <<skips into next Wednesday..>>

Currently, Balthazar's Spirit (http://www.knights-templar.com/monk_skills.htm#Smiting%20Skills) is not affected by your Smiting attribute: "While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally gains Adrenaline and Energy after taking damage. Maintaining this Enchantment reduces one point of your Energy regeneration." It has a 10 Energy cost with a 2 second cast time and recharges instantly. The only downside is it you have one less arrow of Energy regeneration. If you can deal with that, then its a great skill with no required attribute investment.

The way I'm looking at it... I know Sunday night of the last BWE we were discussing that our monks need more defense... well I think it may be helpful if I have that ready as well as things like shielding hands and healing hands.. that would make a great defense to shield/heal hands myself or something, and still have great energy because I'm being hit and constantly gaining energy, thus I can keep healing myself with other spells at the same time... /shrug will just need some testing is all...
I may end up finding just using Reversal of Fortune is something is better.. dont know... that and I may try mixing in some mesmer power gaining skills... : 8)

for your question about attributes, it could have also gone somehting like this (assuming he had runes) and also he did a very good job of defending himself but there was also another monk there that saved him quite a few times, so he could have been using reversal of fortune of spamming orison on him or somehting. anything this is a guess of what his attributes looke dlike w/ runes. and yes it was probably 11, 10, 10 because balthazar's spirit isnt affected by smiting attributes
