I was just making an enq about PVP areas

I created a pvp char and logged into Fort Koda (i think that the name) but all i get to do is join a team who runs over the bridge and smacks the living hell out of each other

Now is this the pvp element to this game ?

Where does the guild vs guild come into play ?

There are GvG arenas.

To expand a little more, there are Guild vs. Guild battles. You'll need to be part of a Guild (your guild will have to purchase/earn a hall).

There are also the ladder PvP, such as the Tombs. The arena (there is several of them) is a great place to gain experience while practicing your PvP :)
