Need help with ascending N/Mo

Ok..its time for me to ascend with my N/Mo, but I'm having problems finding the right skills. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've failed 4 times already, and don't seem to be doing enough damage.

I'm not sure what skills I should set, and what weapon I should bring. My Doppleganger is using an axe and a bow.

Defeating my clone was much easier for my Warrior and Elementalist!

Your in luck, I just did this today... well, i tried yesterday alot, and failed, but today i got it. You'll want as much curse and smiting as you can get, and bring the following skills(though you can mess with the specific sac skills, just bring dark pact for the low recharge):

Holy Wrath
Retribution
Insiduous Parasite
Barbed Signet
Signet of Agony
Dark Pact
Awaken The Blood
Enfeebling Blood


The whole idea is cast Insidious, then Retribution, then Holy Wrath, and dont attack. Just run around as he sacs major health until hes almost dead(he wont sac himself to death, sadly), and then watch as he attacks, thus killing himself with the three spells you cast. Do not cast any other spells, you cant afford to sacrifice the health, and cast holy wrath last, so you have enough energy for the other two. Keep in mind, when I tried this build, I died... but at the same time those three spells killed him, so I still won(a total of 9 seconds). So, it might not work the first time, but try it a few times and it should. Also, if you have scourge sacrifice, bring it... it helps alot more then awaken the blood, but I didnt have it.

not sure if you ahve Scourge Sacrafice yet, btu you could go with taht and a bunch of sacing skills but the suggestion above is good also

I don't know enough on this to give you the right build. However, I do know enough to tell you to stay away from the build I used on my first attempt, which was using a lot of life stealing skills. You might want to get rid of any points you have in Soul Reaping. I know that sounds obvious, but I’d rather do that than be subtle and repeat myself.

And trust me, four times is nothing compared to the numbers that some Necromancers will proclaim they have to an entire district.*

The only skill I didn't have was enfeebling blood, so I just put on a useless spell in its place. It worked on the first try.

Thanks everyone for the input. Before I read you post, I tried about 8 more times last night with various builds, only to go to bed frustrated! lol

my god doppleganger was annoying....but he gives a good exp bonus :lol: I just cranked all my attribs into sword and smiting, flew in there, hit him with symbol of wrath as soon as I got in (symbol of wrath was the only skill I brought lol) so that gave me a boost, then i just hit him with my sword....

In my experience, it's generally pretty easy to get a Warrior or Ranger through the Doppleganger. Just keep in mind: don't try to bring your pet as a Ranger because the pet can't come with you, & don't bring the Healing Signet because it will take forever if you do.

Necro Way:

Awaken the Blood + scourge sacrifice + every life sacrificing skill you have and do nothing and watch himself die
Perhaps a vamp gaze to spike out his last bit

The monk way:
Take zealots + use divine boon a lot (dunno if this still works though)

I have ascended each of the primary professions now, of them, the 2 that were the most difficult were the monks and the necro. Took me many many times, as i wasnt on this forum much at the time and wasnt sure what to do, the necro, my latest character to ascend took about 8-9 times. I went full degen, Rotting Flesh, Life Siphon, Conjure phantasm and Phantom pain, as i am a mesmer secondary, Then took a sac skill along with vamp gaze.
