whats a good second profesion for a pve mesmer?

made a mesmer but am having trouble deciding on a second profesion for him. love the spells he has so far, can do tones of damage. hes shaping up to be a domination mesmer but i dont know enough to make that decision on. any help on a good second profesion for him will be apreciated.

I like domination....even though Im not experienced with the mesmer, but people will kill me for making noobish decisions but hey, I would say monks are always nice....hmmm.....fast casting.....ele maybe? aoe's can take awhile? I dont know....mostly mesmers are used as 2nd professions themselves....

I disagree with that Sir Ention, mesmers are used plenty as primaries. Most(not all) lower rank guilds and ToPK teams rarely use a mesmer, but if you use your B button, you'll see plenty of primary mesmers. Some are fast casting something else, but alot are mesmers, pure and simple.

Anyways... necro is a very common secondary, the hexes compliment eachother very well. Monk can be fun for smiting spells like scourge healing, i dont reccomend heal or prot unless your gonna be a fast-casting monk, which it dosnt sound like. Ele... well, they drain energy pretty fast, but if your careful it can be nice. Warrior... well, I made that mistake, not great for PvE in imho. Lets see... that leaves ranger... uhhh... I dunno about that. I've never really been Me/R except to have a dune lizard, just for fun. I suppose it could work...

Me/Mo is a good first build, it will allow you to bring a reusable rez which is large in PvE.

With this build you can use Protection skills later if you wish, like Bond, Aegis and more. YOu can also play around with Smite like tossing Judges Insight on Warriors or Strength in Honor.

Backfire is a big hitter in PvE the monsters are dumb, and Shatter Hex is really good as well it is nice AoE damage.

It is a good thing to point out the "B" for observing PvP but it has nothing to do with the "PvE Messemer" this guy is asking about!

If you intend to PvP later wiht this guy the Me/N is indeed a very good combo, and tons of Necro skills fit with a Me Primary in PvP. It would indeed be a better choice IF PvP is in your near future. Dealing wiht no reusable rez is well worth it in the end if you are pointing towards PvP with this guy.

If PvE is your bag......Monk secondary is almost always the best way to go simply for the rez.

PvE is what im doing and planning to do.. and also a necro is always handy as a second for a caster cause you can regain energy with certain spells but it also is good damage if wanted.. so its just handy to have a necro as second..

monks definitely are nice, I mean ether feast alone isnt going to get you through all of your travels in PvE, however, being a monk 2nd gives you all the good healing skills like breeze, mending, and healing hands, without the invitation spam in cooperative missions! :P

it is also do you wonna go more to try solo or to fight with teams? cause if solo then take monk for sure.. but in teams just get a good monk or monks and healing is not needed.. but if you go team i would say take necro as second..

I love my new mesmer. Just got her to the desert last night. (Mo secondary btw). I'm looking forward to backfiring/conjure phantasm/shatter delusion someone. It will be fun!
