Guys-
I picked up a gold dwarven warrior armor of major expertise, which is a salvage item.. but it's gold, and I figure I'd make sure that I can't utilize it some other way with a rune or something to get a nice piece of armor??
Maybe I can just use a expert salvage kit on it, and hope for a rune or something.. but I just don't want to waste it.. your help is appreciated.

well if you'd like to make the most of it use an identify kit on it, and then use an expert salvage kit and hope you get a good rune :)

Ok, so that's the best I can hope for is a good rune from an expert salvage.. I thought there was some way to attach a rune to the armor to get a valid warrior armor.. ok, thanks.

nope, the only way to get new armor is to trade the crafters collector's items, or to craft it yourself at major cities with crafting materials. Any other dwarven armors or hides should say "salvage item" or something like that under them,, which means that you can use a salvage or expert salvage kit on them to get crafting items, runes, and weapon upgrades which you can then put onto your weapons, however the salvage items on their own do not do anything.
Hope this clears any confusion up! :)
The important thing is to ID the armor before attempting to salvage (with an Expert Kit). That way you have unlocked the Rune for your PvP characters even if the salvage attempt fails and you don't get the Rune out of the armor.

Ah yes, this has happened a couple times to me, I've unlocked the rune, but didn't necessarily get in upon salvage.. I see now, well I haven't salvaged it yet, so we'll see. Thanks for clearing things up guys.
