Hey everyone,
I finally have a couple characters who can enter FOW and UW :D . So i joined up with a group with my warrior, and made it pretty good (still need some sup runes to bulk up a little  ) However, I also have a nuker, all fire, I ran with flare, meteor storm, glyph of renewal, rodgorts, and heal(playing with monk, but ran character as mesmer until found glyph of renewal). Anyway, the group died in like three seconds  I got off a couple of meteor swarms, and rodgorts before death, but did not even get a chance to look around. I only really tried ele because seems like a lot of groups ask for them, and seemed a quick way to get in and see some goodies :D .
So the question is, any suggestions on what skills are used? Meteors seemed to scatter groups, aggroing bigger groups, adding to massive death. Yet, other group had ele, and she did really well, but did not catch spell sequences she used. So any ideas would be great. The ele has option for any secondary as completed all quests for them, and went back to pick up main spells/skills for each also, plus can go back to capture elite if necessary.
Not really looking to have build made, just ideas on what is looked for I guess.
Thanks :)

When going with fire magic down in FoW:
There's a difference between Fire Storm and Meteor Shower. (I'm not exactly sure which one you were using.) Most elementalists use Meteor and Meteor Shower seeing as how the knockdowns stop them from escaping the AoE (most of the time). However, it isn't bad to be packing Rodgort's Invocation and/or Fireball as well. These spells can come in handy when one is done casting meteor shower.
I found on the GWGuru a while ago a post of the "ultimate" nuking build. I found it to be really annoying because these echo elementalists carry meteor shower as their only attack. If that one attack gets interrupted one will have to wait a minute (and then some in certain cases) just to fire another off.
Of course, if you aren't satisfied with this there are 3 other elements in which an elementalist can experiment with. And if there's a group that wants your elementalist exclusively because of nuking abilities, don't join them. Do whatever it is that your best at, not what everyone else thinks.

with mesmer 2nd you should have little problems with interrupts... i'm talking about the 2 matras of course (cat recall their names atm)
also, with Me you could go pure mesmer and in many cases that is alot more useful then a nuker in my experience

Good point on the use of the mantras. But still, it meteor shower shouldn't be one's only attack. Believe it or not it isn’t the end all be all skill for an elementalist. *Gasp* If the AI does manage to squeeze past it or it doesn't destroy them, then what? The elementalist sits there and has little else to contribute for the next minute. Gearing up for one blast and that’s it? Yes, it’s one big blast but not much else. At least have something offensive to cast so the elementalist isn’t just standing there while everyone else has to be working away.
I guess one could use Mantra of Resolve to decrease the cool down time for Meteor Shower but it doesn't mean anything if they don't have any energy left due to the exhaustion/amount spent. Still it could be useful to cast something else in between.

I agree completely... Meteor SHower and fire in general are quite overrated IMO... Earth has TONS (no pun intended lol) of potential for damage as well self-defense, which is often forgotten by eles... up intil the time they are being slashed to pieces

This is the Echo Nuker build I use for Fissue of Woe using Ele/Mes with maxed Fire Magic and Energy Storage.
1) Aura of Restoration
2) Fireball
3) Rodgort's Invocation
4) Meteor Shower
5) Arcane Echo
6) Resurrection Signet
7) Fire Attunement
8) Elemental Attunement (Elite)
The combo of Rodgort's followed by fireball does huge damage to closely bunched groups. It is especially effective on Impalers and Shadow Beasts. I also like using Echo followed by Meteor Shower to double up the meteor attacks on multiple monk targets.
To counteract the slow cast times and recharge I am using a Rago's Wand and a collector offhand (20/20). This build does some major damage, but does not offer much for defense as pointed out earlier.
Hey guys i Use a Echo Renewal Nuker Build for Fow. I have no healing skills cause thats the monks job :D
1) Ele Attunment
2) Fire Attunment
3) Fireball
4)Rodgorts Inovocation
5)Meteor
6)Meteor Shower
7)Echo (I often Echo Fireball to Nuker a lot and Meteor Shower for a death zone)
8) Res Sig

While many of these builds are effective with your massive energy store it is always good to bring some self heal regardless of the "monk's job" it is your group's job to survive. Aura of restoration is not a bad skill if you have mes as your secondary. If not a mo secondary using any standard heal and especially the ever reviled heal party can mean the difference between a good group and a failed group. Especially when dealing with PUGs

Personally I would rather see Ward Melee from an Elly than heals, or maybe Aegis.

I just cant seem to make use out of fire, air seems stronger to me, and most enemies are just way to good about not staying in AE's, Earth can be great because of wards and obsidian flame is so powerful, and water... well flag runners make nice use out of it!
as for fire though, i love gunning out fireballs with Aecho or spreading around mark of rodgort and using like lava arrows, it just doesnt seem that useful, unless you get those nice AE's in
