I am always thinking of ideas about how to better guild wars. I don't post all of them but here is another of my ideas. Please read it and consider it. I think that they should add times of the day on gw, so it would get lighter or darker. Night and Day. This is not my whole idea, just a small part of it. To me it is not crucial that this is added. However, the aspect that I would most like to see in guild wars is seasons. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. This should be added in all parts of the map. Along with these seasons would come certain weather (rain, snow, hail....). Not only should weather be added but terrain effects also. For example, it is turning spring in the shiverpeaks. Some, or most of the snow would melt off in the warmer areas, and the muddy terrain effect would be added. This is where my idea could potentially cause some problems. Runners would be limited in certain areas because of the weather. This, I think, however would add great new things to the game. More difficulties would arise. Challenges greater. Icy ground in missions would make it more difficult in winter times. Not every time you did a mission would be the same. Another thing to add.... for example, it gets warm in the shiverpeaks and snow starts to melt, what would an "ice golum" do?? They would leave the area for a time, until more snow could be found. They might also move back into areas with more snow and so on. The possibilities are vertually endless for this kind of topic. I also see that it would be hard to add these features in all at once. It could possibly be a bad thing, I understand this, however, I only ask that you take my idea into consideration.

Should ArenaNet implement a freeze effect? Scantily clad female avatar and the occasionnal scantiliy clad barbarian and tatooed males would receive a -1 degen because of sub zero temperature :P... uh... ok... forget it :) #boo#
Changing weather could be interesting, but not hugely interesting. Imagine the tar pit in Ascalon, frozen in winter and giving no conditions... this would mean that weather would unbalance the game ;)
Daylight simulation can be fun, as doing a mission in the dark might be different from doing it by day. But with AI impervious to shadow and all, it wouldn't have much sense (unless darkness make the aggro circle smaller)
HOWEVER...
In PvP it would be fun to implement.
Darkness would make it difficult to identify threat.
Random weather conditions to spice up a boring and repetitive arena :)
Fog that would diminish the ranged weapons accuracy, mud patch slowing down "charge" warriors, pissing fast moving assassin...
But as I don't play PVP (at least, not as much as some people) I am just supposing it would be fun. Hardcore PVP players might disagree...
So I voted " I don't know" ;)

The whole idea seem very interesting. . . However I think they should start with the simple part of it. . . changes of Day and Night :D:D

i find the idea interesting.......BUT i am no programmer but i would assume that would take some serious programming and maintenance and could probably be implemented on one of those pay per month mmorpg's wich unfortunately guild wars is not, however with the third installment being called nightfall they may have found a way to do it already (maybe)

I think it would certainly make the game atmosphere more realistic and cool... but I can think of a few mission related problems. Would places where you're running over frozen rivers then thaw and you'd require some other way through or around? Would snow (say heavy fall) reduce speed and have the same effect as mud?....
But I do think a night/day thing would be cool, although how they would be able to implement this is the question? Would it follow GMT around, or say more likely rotate on a 4 or 6 hour cycle so you actually have several 'days' in a 24 hour time period?... There would certainly be challenges, and it would look cool, but I don't think that should have any real effects on play (smaller aggro or whatever). Although that would make it cool to sneak through groups of mobs or whatever for soloing or running! hmmm the possibilities! 8)
