I am a little stuck when I wish to explore the domain of pain. I managed to get there by soloing the Gate of pain coop.
I am stuck right in front of the vortex... I often get wiped by the first encountered mob...
I thought getting rid of a monk, an ele and G or D would be a breeze until the shadow beast necro appear...
They generally wipe out half my party... and I find it hard to survive even with 2 henchies monk...
Some people told me that it would be easier with Pvp builds °°
So I am looking for some insight from dedicated PvPer (and PvEr of course), about skills, henchmen to take with, heroes and possible skills for heroes...
I am playing assassin.

Without knowing exactly which one you are talking about I am guessing your issue is that you have the "Masters Quest" in your log. One of the areas has a masters quest right where you zone and hordes of mobs start coming in from the upper left and seem to never stop. I am guessing that if you abandon the masters quests that you have that your little issue will be resolved.
The other option is to immediately run straight up and to the right and GTFO of the immediate area where you zone.
With all of that said, when in this part of the game it is best to simply not take any of the Masters Quests as they will interfere with all of the other quests often stacking packs near each other that arent intended to be there if you do one quest at a time.
This are of the game is a pretty tuff place for hench/hero teams and the added difficulty of those other foes is very taxing.
I hope my "guess" here is a good one and I have helped......

I have no #master# missions. That's what makes it even worser.
:( I've always managed 'til then to solo explorable zone...
And now I am stuck because all the outpost are crammed by D and P... I skill my hero monks the best I can, but I have no experience at monking...
I always manage to pull one mob just in front of the exit, and all hell break loose... It's two mobs that get on me plus the necro shadow beasts.
 I really can't go further than the first mobs... It's horrible...
But I think that if a though PvP player like you says it's difficult, I feel relieved... I began to think I was playing real bad...
I will continue but I admit this is pissing me... Maybe in two weeks...

I took a look at Domain of Pain on wiki and I still cant picture the place, the mobs in the area and all that, but once again I will say those Torment exploreables and thier missions are pretty darn tuff.
There have been several of them that I finished at 60 dp and basically ran in and killed one guy......all died......respwn.....go back and kill one and all die again...etc.
One really bad thing about Domain of Pain is you have a global 20 damage for evry skill used. So with this in mind I suggest looking at your Heros and consider not having too many spammable skills, now this is easier said than done but see what you can adjust if you have a certain Hero or Hench that seems to be the one always dieing fast. Lets say you have a Barrager.....that is a spammer, shit might be really pounding herself with the 20 damage a pop........Now if she is using a Vamp Bow this might mean nothing......so consider that!
Now my next question is this.......Does this 20 damage trigger on "skills" as defined like "attack skills", or is it on every skill wether it is a spell, signet, attack skill...etc. Sorry I dont know/recall I really didint spend a ton of time in these areas, I did the "main stuff" and moved on fast, but this information can go a long way in helping you skill up your people better or selecting Henchmen.
Other things to consider........these are just thougts/brainstorms
Mend Ailment or Draw Conditions or Mend Condition may not be the best way to go, maybe put Martyr in so you can remove more conditions with less casts.......
Orison......its only 60ish heal, maybe its not a good choice where normally its not a bad spammable.
Just look at your skill choices and see how they look when you consider you are taking 20 damage evry time you use them.
Another thing to consider is going Monk Heavy and building one with BIG HEALS......Divine Healing, Heal Party......maybe go Mo/E and give him Glyph of Lessor Energy. In some places I went (3) Monks, and in some places I went (2) Monks and the Necro Blood Ritual guy.
Now.....for your specific position you are in right now. I recall there is one place that if i went out and attacked the first guys I saw that it seemed like the whole area of the compass got aggroed and i couldnt possibly kill them all. So i tried to find a way to move thru the immediate area without fighting. In one spot I actually weant around the back side of the portal spot then all the way over to one border and then moved up the edge only fighting what I had to fight and it worked well.
Frankly I think there are many areas in Torment that are extremely over powering even if I took 8 people all on vent some of these spots would be tuff even with the perfect builds for it...........so just for now try and out smart them if you cant take them out heads up.
Brains beats AI..........
Oh ya........another option is to go with a Paragon and set him up as a Heal Buffer. The Motivation line has several chants that provide heals like 70-100 the next time someone casts a spell or takes damage, or uses a skill.
Aria of Restoration CH3 (Chant) For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot uses a Spell, that ally gains 40..88 [104] Health. Updated: 10/27/06 10 1 sec. 20 sec.
Ballad of Restoration CH3 (Chant) For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot takes damage, that party member gains 30..78 [94] Health. Updated: 10/27/06 10 1 sec. 20 sec.
Song of Purification CH3 ELITE (Chant) For 20 seconds, the next 1..3 [3] Skills used by each ally within earshot remove 1 Condition from that ally. This Skill requires Adrenaline. Updated: 10/27/06 5A 2 sec. None
Song of Restoration NEW! CH3 ELITE (Chant) For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot uses a Skill, that party member gains 40..88 [104] Health. Added: 10/27/06 5 1 sec. 15 sec.
All 4 of these are skills I used alot in Torment. i also used a Fire "burning" Hero and used "They are on Fire" with Ward of Melee and Elements. My Paragon with a Paragon Hero really had the easiest time of all my guys thus far in Torment.
Also keep in mind a few other skills that may not get used alot ....... Virelunce, Fevered Dreams, Enfeebling Blood, Shadow of Fear, Icy Veins, Oppresive Gaze with Enfeebling Blood, Well of Suffering.
if you play a MM you might consider changing things up a bit as minions just dont last long there. Maybe go to the (2) minion skill and explode them with Nova, and use Putrid and Well of Suffering more than trying to have a bunch of minions..........I simply gave up on trying to use minions to actually kill in many places late in the game.
Also.......keep in mind that those nice Elites that always are kool like Eviscerate or Barrage or SS are nice and all but in many cases in PvE they arent needed for good results. Somtimes putting that Vireluence on your Warrior could be the best thing you ever did!!! Fevered Dreams on someone else........Give the Warrior Dismemeber for DW instead, and hit a foe with Feavered....then Dismemeber and then Virelunce and now every foe in the area is DW/Weak/Poisoned/Disease......they are digin fast and dealing less damage due to weakness.
There are a bunch of skills out there.........search for somehting to get you thru what kills you........
Good luck, I hope I helped in some way.......

When I was down there with my Ritualist, an Assassin, who is often in AB groups with me, seemed to act a little differently than normal. Because of the penalty while down there, the Assassin would lose 20 health to use an evasion skill to get to the enemy backlines, 60 health just by letting off an attack chain, another 20 health on the times an evasion skill was used to get into the our back lines, and another 20 health for using a healing skill. Overall, that’s anywhere between 80-120 health lost just by using skills in one run at the enemy. On top of that, the Assassin would usually get hit by an AoE or a random Barrage somewhere in process of making these runs.
Just to give you all an idea for what it’s like when I’m usually with this Assassin, the person will head into the backlines, pull off an attack chain, will try to lay low in the backlines until the attack chain has recharged, and attack again. This is assuming that he isn’t being attacked. However when this person is in the Domain of Pain, he is always returning to our backlines right after finishing an attack chain, instead of just doing so when the enemy finally decides to target him.
As for me, I made sure I had enough self healing to sustain myself. Still, I had to watch my health meter whenever I attacked, even when I wasn’t being attacked. The reason for this is that I would often be casting 2-5 spells in a matter of seconds, which translated to losing 40-100 health. Again, that’s not accounting for when I get hit by something, because the spirit next to me looks like an easy target in the enemy’s eyes or when I’m being attacked directly for being a softer target than the allies near me.
So to sum it up, it’s good to practice moderation when using any skills, while in the Domain of Pain.

:? Well I feel relieved... I thought I had gone clumsy and stupid all of a sudden...
Yeah I forgot about the -20 for each skill. I think it is for all skills. I use dancing dagger (think it's a spell), and it triggers the -20...
As there are a lot of mobs but concentrated on some points, I wonder if it would be possible for a solo sin to run...
Using shadow form, no more pesky attacks and spells... some teleportation to get through enemy line, something to run faster in order to be far far away when shadow form ends...
If they are densly packed, this is crazy enough to work...
