GWEN - Fighting the Bear

So anyone come up with a good way for a warrior to beat the bear in the 1vs1 quest?

Sorry for lack of explanation but there's a quest where you get a hammer (that's a gold club with damage 15-15)

The bear is lvl 24, with Leviathan smash, dolyak sig, and Troll Ungent (which he can cast very fast)

My mezmer would have him dead in 20 seconds. any thoughts on a warrior?
(keep in mind you have to kill him with the hammer you are givin...but only the final death dealing hit. You can use another weapon to damage him)

havnt played much GWEN...so I don't really know what your talking bout. I will say tho that Wild Blow might help you get his stance and some int or KD(if Dolyak is down) to get troll.

not sure, but today i ran in to the master quest in one of the Norn outpost that consted facing a lvl 28 rit griffen one on one with my smiter. I was ripped a new one then had to go to work. tomarrow I think I will try the 55 build with an interupt in it some where.

as for your warroir build i would try massice knock down skills to catch him when the dolyak wears off or change your secondary to mes with coujure fantism and rund a sword with savage slash and any other interup that you can find.

do tell where this bear is at I might like a go at him with my monk if I can get pasted the griffen.

You could also try a warrior/necro with the grenths balance build and degen with blood or curses. Spinal shivers might be good for the interrupts if you can deal out cold damage til he's almost dead.

Please remember that Dolyak Sig is a signent not a stance so Wild Blow = no good


The mission is called "Bear Club for Men/Bear Club for Women" based on what gender your character is. A nice reference to Hair Club for Men but a pain none the less.

I finally got around to trying this with my warrior. All I used was Ursan Blessing and the club that you get with the quest. I killed the bear in about 30 seconds.

It took me quite a long while with my warrior as well, I had to use Auspicious Parry and several skills along those lines and it took me a good 15mins to finish him off. The griffon is really nasty as well. Magni Bison seems to be one of the toughest as well. With facing 5 enemies at random prior and then facing a kd warrior that does 200 damage a pop along with KD. I ended up going the way of the dodo and using the Griffon's trick. I became a spirit spamming warrior. Yes I know quite a farce, but finally after several tries i was successful. I had to bring my totem axe and a -1 pip +27 energy offhand to have enough energy to just scrape by. Took some getting used to, but makes many of those 1v1 matches much easier

Kindof a lame way to do it, but I went rit secondary, put down a bunch of spirits and just got out of the way. they killed him pretty quickly :) (SF ele didn't work worth a ****

Yep the spirit spammer way is very effective just not very easy for a warrior to do it with their limited energy pool. I ended up using a Totem Axe and a +27 -1pip offhand to try the spirit spamming method in the process of killing Magni the Bison. There was large amts of curse words while trying many of these 1v1 quests while being a warrior. Last night, I tried the Round 1 quest with my Ele, which I rolled through it all quite easily using the Savannah's Heat, Searing Heat, Liq Flame, Immolate setup. Was a piece of cake, only problem I had was on Bison he almost toasted me, but thankfully Ward Melee > Magni

Duelling Norn with a mesmer is immelsely easy ;). I used Leech Signet to interrupt his Bear Form, and then (my favourite signet of them all) Signet of Midnight to blind him. Simple yet effective.

I think the quest Finch was talking about was actually the "rabid bear" one, not the Bison guy one (although that one was tough to beat as well) :)

Finch, I am glad that it worked for you. It may not be pretty. It sure isn't elegant. But, when something needs to be killed, beating it with a club sure is effective.

I actually could only do it hitting him with my IceBreaker then swapping to the club of 1000 bears at the last couple hits.

I know this thread was so last year but I beat this quest last night with my mesmer...and yes took 25 seconds lol....

man it was a ***** with a warrior
