I've heard that you're going to release an "upgrade" where it is able to play with new races such as dwarves and elves. I dont know if this is true, but it would be very nice and it would inspire many people to play the game more.
If you are going to do this, my suggestion is to make it able to play the centaur race. I've never played a RPG where you can play as a centaur, but I have always been hoping for a new game to make that able. I would certainly play the game more just to enjoy the awsome graphics on a centaur, wearing a tunic and some special shoes, if not just to run around and impress all my friends.
The only bad thing with this is that you wont ever see a human or dwarf, cuz the centaurs are too cool for the players to chose the other races... :P

I hope you'll read this post and maybe even do something about it =)

Hmmmmm wouldnt dwarves take over as a warrior race?? and elves as a ranger race?? It is hard to figure out whats going to go on for this...........might be no new characters. Unless you can give me some more useful thinking if you can post plz :P

No elwes PLS!!!!!!!
Centaurs, satyrs, minotaurs, cyclopes, medusas, hydras etc from mythology would be sweet.

How about a character that can "split", but reduced effect in each division of character - maybe into secondary and primary skilled charaters. Also be able to morph into beast types like sugested or some adaptation as a charater type. Posible to make a character able to do short teleporting maybe? Possible shape shifting / transparent (cover/armors). I am just trying to think outside the box a little.

Oh shapeshifting into animals... liek the druid in D2??

Ya that'd be cool since that's what i use in D2 most of the time (im quite skilled at playin D2 Altho i haven't played much these couple of months)

As for your idea Mahomet, about the duplication of one's self... How would that work, Since its hard to control 4 people at once.. Or did you mean they'd become like henchmen, with a mind of there own? Its a great idea.. But i don't understand how it would work :?

I try not to put GW and D2 together cause i dont want to be addicted to D2 again ; / but........good idea Mahamo. I even read the book before I played this game. If you go back into the area pages and in Maguuma Jungle, you'll see about the Druids being extinct over these monsters. So they might make a little upper down like saying Except for the last............
IDN :? just a little thought

This is the only problem I have with Races as once you add in Elves then people will expect them to be the best build for bow use so you would have to add in a ton more variables and balance those within the already difficult balancing act that had to be done to get this far. Dwarves would be harder to hit, Orcs stronger, more life maybe.......you know the old Constitution/dex/str..etc stuff like other games that are totally unbalanced in PvP.

Not against it, I just see a bunch of balance issue or it will be purely for a different look.

The poll needs a 3rd choice: "Maybe, depends on how done and as long as its balanced"

Yes, well balanced and more interesting to look at instead of a race that just take most of skills and sets as another.

Ok, I voted no. Please, no flames! My initial gut reaction was YES!!! W00T!.

The only way it would be yes is if there was no difference except for appearance. Otherwise like said above, there would have to be changes, and then we would start segregating the races upon who they should be, ie elves = rangers, et al. In D&D style games your attributes are different depending on race. I don't want to get into all that!

Don't worry we wont flame.... Its your opinion and you are intitled to it.

You should never have to fear being "flamed" on these forums. They are flame-retardent!

well, I actually agree with this, I wouldn't want new races unless it only changed appearance, you're not alone

LOL.......if its going to be a new race what do you think its going to look like? The same as the others? Thats what i was thinking at first but im sure Anet is not going to let that happen.

..... I meant that they should ONLY change the appearance, they shouldn't make elves stronger with bows, dwarves stronger with melee or whatever.... I'd only want these new races if they changed the appearance of the characters, but nothing else

wat if they made it to where you find 5 (it could be any number) races in a desert and they are very thirsty and you can only bring water for 1. You would bring them the drink and they would give you a magical orb or soemthing that would turn you into another race. Or they would use their magic to turn you into their race. just an idea. could be on a mountain in need of shelter or warmth. also they could have it to where they would make it to where no one would be any stronger or weaker if they are a certain proffesion. It could be like the White mantle they all look kind of the same except that the monks lookeed diff and they rangers and warrors looked diff. The elf(for example) could be a monk and look a little different than a elf warrior. i think races would be an awsome addition to the game and a great way to make yourslef more customizable. :D

I think its not the type of character that makes it unique.. Its more how you use it.. Like take D2 For instance.. Theres like 5-6 races in that game.. But because of all the customization within the characters.. No two characters can be the same.

In the case of Guild Wars.. Your second profession does the most of your customization. Meaning if you add 1 new race, just one.. You get like 12 more combos. (e.g. Wa/X R/X etc. And X/E X/M etc.(X being the new race))

So ArenaNet doesn't really need to add 5 new races to the ones already made... Because it'll just make it harder to be the game using all the characters.
