Ok let me first start off by saying I have the most fun being needed  Now with that said can someone tell me the most needed/wanted profession/build in the game atm? I don't care what it is as long as everyone needs it in gvg battles or for questing groups. There are quests in this game right?

yes there are quests in game and its not certain builds that are needed, its good playing with good tactics

Example: In WoW the priest is the most sought after class for groups/raids in the game. Now what is the equivalent of the priest class in GW ? And it doesn't have to be a healer.

MonK :)

Can you be just a monk? or Do you have to mix stuff together? Like a Monk/warrior
well you could go jsut monk if you wanted.....having a secondary profession makes you more versatile though.

Ok so everyone agrees monk is the most needed profession? Hmm... I must admit Ive been intrested in the role of a Monk/warrior.
Not neccesairly true. A very good team does not need a monk if they are based around not needing a monk. But yes, in most situations a monk is a required profession.

Thanks for the help everyone and sorry for all the questions. :) From what everyone tells me ill be rolling a monk come the 28th . Last question I promise... what would be the role of a monk/warrior?
Depends on how you build your monk. The warrior secondary can be used as just a distraction so your not targeted as much (because ppl think your melee) You can also use some of the warrior's melee skills to defend yourself when you are attacked. Some stances can also help ya out at defending yourself.
Litebringer
04-25-2005, 07:40 PM
yes you can put points into tatcics and use some defensive stances, and if you have more questions aks away its kinda fun to help

any monk primary is a MAIN target - if you are a monk primary you almost have to be a divine healer - <for there is no other reason to go monk primary than divine> - the divine skills and boosts are too powerful to be a monk pri and not use them, weighing the constant attacks and targeting.
A good secondary for a monk is mesmer, the energy steal skills can help you heal more effectively by recouping your energy faster.
Monk is sought after, but a monk who heals ineffectively will be kicked much faster than a warrior who plays the same way -
Most teams now are running 2 - 3 monks - so they stay employed - but a good monk is hard to find..............................

Hmm... how much are warriors sought after and what is a good 2nd profession for them?

not necesarrily, i've seen sum kick ass mo/war tanks that can dish out sum major melee dmg and still have enough energy to heal and protection prayers... what most people dont realize is that when they're rushing for monks it could sometimes be one of these protection monks, instead of healers... and ocassionly ele's will also be healers, which is why when you're out on the battlefield it is always important to observe all of your oponents and counter their strategy... make sure you're going for a monk that is always healing and is wearing tatoos first as they will fall the quickest

Ive researched the warrior/ranger more and I think its safe to say I will be rolling one of them come the 28th. One thing Im pretty confused about is the having one character for pvp and one character for RP whats up with that?
Raven

Talon-
One for PvP and one PvE is probably the way to go at the start-
The PvE character you will develop from infancy - learning skills, developing armor and levelling up, etc....
The PvP character is one that starts at level 20 with a certain set of skills- any skills you learn, earn will be unlocked to create a custom char, but in the beginning the pre-made builds will be the only available to you with a full skill set. They are only able to go to PvP areas, and the guild hall, but are initially Level 20 with a set of PvP armor and a PvP weapon.
Once you have developed your PvE character to level 20 with good armor, weapons and earned skillset you like - then you will definitely want to PvP with it, because it will be a stronger Char than the pre-mades.
As to what I was saying about running two different skillsets- that is because PvE isnt the same type of fighting that you encounter in PvP, GvG- you need to be able to self heal and do damage to bring down enemies in the PvE, while in GvG, PvP not all of the roles are attacking roles- granted a monk in PvE will be fine but they will be healing the others who do the damage and are very reliant upon their team to clear the missions, making it really difficult to solo the missions with henchmen.
I hope this cleared it up..........if not ask more.........

i too was talking of pvp, not pve

Thanks Raven that clears it up for me. Now what exactly are guild halls?
Raven
04-26-2005, 06:55 PM
Guild HAll - it's where the guilds go and arrange battles with other guilds, to move up the ladder (rank) 8 players on each team - ends when the Guild Lord has been killed- in short

Thanks Kaede! Ok you guys said you liked answering my questions so here goes another one... Ive noticed you have alot of members in Knights Templar so if the battles are 8 v 8 how do you guys make sure everyone in the guild gets an even amount of battle time?
Raven
04-26-2005, 07:16 PM
well- sometimes thats a problem - most of the time organizing 8 is a hard enough task though.
Our members are all over the globe - so play times corresponding is sometimes tricky -
We will begin to schedule specific GvG times in the near future and its normally a First come First on basis - Roles played type of sign up - with fill-ins and alternates-
thats why we like diversity in characters our members play, so if a monk needs to bail there is someone to fill in and so on. Most of our members can play 3 or 4 dedicated roles, noone is limited to just one role- we have our favorites to play - but most are willing to play what ever is needed to complete the build we are running at the time.

Theres actually not that many official KT members, 20ish or so(someone correct me if i'm off a bit). If we have many people on at the same time we swap people in and out each battle so everyone gets time. Its not odd for us to only have 4-5 people on and bring in temporary members from allied guilds or forum members.

Sounds like you guys have a pretty sweet setup. Well thats all the questions I have for now... Im sure I can come up with more between now and thursday. and If you all would like to add information you think I don't know and would be useful please feel free to :D

Ah man can't believe I didn't think to ask this :? What is the currency in this game like? And how hard is it to make money?

04-26-2005, 08:18 PM
hmmmm, Well, You can get gold pretty easy, but, thats obtaining it, obtaining enough of it is the challenge. Its not to bad, of course the better things are more costly, and you may have to save for a little while to pay for things you need, but you will deffinatly find the places to get gold.
talonblaze
04-26-2005, 08:49 PM
Ok now how many characters do you get per account? And how many of you are going to use the PvE character or the PvP character?
Andromeda
04-26-2005, 08:53 PM
As of this moment, there are four characters per account. You'll need a couple characters to PvE to unlock the future skills you need....
talonblaze
04-26-2005, 08:55 PM
Hmm... why a couple character? Wouldn't you only need one to unlock the skills for that character?
Sarra Sweet
04-26-2005, 08:57 PM
if you unlock skills with your roleplaying character, you can use those skills when you make a pvp character.

While this may be true I don't think anyone can argue that it is harder to gain your items in comparison to the rpgs and mmorpgs out there.... look at diablo 2, i played a year straight and i still didn't have all of the best items
talonblaze
04-26-2005, 08:59 PM
Ah I see, so you can't use your PvE character that you unlocked the skills with to PvP?
Sarra Sweet
04-26-2005, 09:12 PM
do you know how roleplaying and pre built (pvp) characters work?
You can only use PvP characters in PvP area's but you can use a roleplaying character in any area.
talonblaze
04-26-2005, 09:18 PM
I hope having two characters isn't to much work
Sarra Sweet
04-26-2005, 09:36 PM
you dont have to have pvp characters. I like to use home grown. But for the first few days when my character is low level I will use pvp characters for pvp areas :D Sicne they start level 20 :)

Ok this is what I have so far : There is a character that starts out level 20 and is only allowed in PVP areas.
There is an option to start your character from level one and that character is allowed in both PvE and PvP areas.
The character that start off level one end up being better then the character starting off level 20.
Is this right?
Andromeda
04-26-2005, 11:29 PM
At first, the Pvp character will be better, since you will have upgraded armor, a basic skillset, and, of course, level 20.
Your roleplaying character will have more options once you outfit level 20 armor.
If you learn 20 skills with your Roleplaying character, when you create a PvP character, you will have access to those skills as well.
talonblaze
04-27-2005, 12:14 AM
Ok so you don't have to make a PvE character but it will give you advantages in battle.
Sarra Sweet
04-27-2005, 12:37 AM
Eventually it will. becuase you can get all skills and items with a roleplaying character (pve) but at first when you have low level character and you want to do some pvp, a pvp character would work better.
talon pre order gw?
Dude dont worry about 2 char.Go with one at lvl 1.You will get to lvl 20 in a week for sure, but you can start pvp at lvl 10(there is a special area for lvl 10+ pvp.You will get to lvl 10 in a day or two.
