View Full Version : What's the deal with Islands?

Do you "take" your island by conquering it first for your guild hall? Do you assult each other's Islands in GvG style play? Are there monsters on the islands? If so, do they leave drops?

I know so little since we don't yet have a hall of our own. I'd appreciate any insight on the details of these islands!

Thanks! 8)

Your Guild Hall is (should be) a strategic choice of the those available. Your Guild in GvG will at times defend your Guild Hall, so it is very good to know your own hall as well as all others and plan offensive and defensive strategies for competition. You can run NON-RATED GvG for practive and RATED GvG for GW LADDER participation.

Awesome!

The only other question not answered is if there are monsters on the islands. I heard someone talking about undead in the Isle of the dead. Is this true?

there are monsters in the one guild hall... I remember in beta we were trying out the lava one and we were going to attack our enemies by sneaking around the lava int eh back... we didn't know that there was such a long stretch of lava and monsters in the lava though... I wouldn't reccommend going that way, all 8 of us died

It would be fun to have monsters there. Both to practice skill sets against, as well as a speed bump to invading guilds coming to fight you on your island!

Those monsters he's referring to are only in that one Guild Hall, the lava map. They guard the back route, making it near impossible to go that way. They are only there when you go into battle against another guild, just like all the NPC archers. You can check out all the Guild Halls and explore them at any time by visiting the Canthan Trader at the docks in Lion's Arch.

Will those monsters attack the guild who's home is on that island as well as invaders?

Just stratagising.... :D

Ya i tested this out by visiting Cathan yesterday.. And saw nothing.. But i assumed that what Wanderer said was the case :?

I found the need to investigate.. Since i was trying to decide what guild hall to get myself.. and i have looked at them all very closely.. And never found any monsters. But anyways! I guess while defending this might coem to an advantage
