This game contains some cool areas to explore. When I first started I explored all of ascalon, until i realized that there is no reward for exploring. aside from some really cool scenery spots and a few lame chests, there were no secret items, or quest, or easter eggs. I've explored some other areas of the map with similar results.
I would really like to see some kind of benefits to exploring in the new content. Not something huge, like a super item/weapon, cuz then it wouldnt be exploring anymore, it would just become another part of the beaten path. But something like chests that are a little bit better, or a super unique monster, or like GTA maybe - some hidden packages, or mini quests like the hogs or hunters from presearing, but cooler ones.

yes the chests i think is a good idea make it to where you have to kill a reaaly hard boss(even tho none are hard) then u get the loot like gold or puplr weapons.

i just thought of this. keep the chests, but give a quest that is to find all the chests, and says you have found X out of X chests. i think allowing people to know how many chests they have to find would really encourage people to form parties to go out and explore for them. also, make the chests so that when you discover them you get the entire contense, not split it in your party, and make it so you can only get the reward from the chest once. this would also eliminate the current trend of people farming chests, especially in south shiverpeak.
another cool idea would be simmilar to the Heros of Might and Magic series. have 20 or so oblisks is remote locations on the map. when you find an oblisk it reveals part of a "treasure map". once you have the whole treasure map revealed, it will show you a locations of a special item. the location would have to be different for every person to prevent people telling other people. or instead of a "treasure map" make the oblisks trigger something magical. the special item would be located in the same place for everyone, but it only appears once you have triggered all the oblisks. it would be cool if the the item was something useful for both your main and secondary classes. or instead of a special item, a skill that uses both classes.
sigh...i wish i was a game developer :? i wanna make my own game :)

"We will definitely be adding the type of content that you envision, the sort that draws you away from the beaten path, the kind that offers up something totally unexpected and cool that may be a side-story or an "extra" project. These will be very fun to accomplish and definitely worth your efforts as a world explorer or as a person wanting a cool reward for extra effort. Part of our philosophy is to continually add optional challenging content for ascended individuals and groups. This philosophy applies both to our free updates (like the one coming this summer) and to the ascended character content in future chapters. So keep watching for bonus missions and special secret objectives!"
edit: thats from a fansite interview, not a response to me
   cant wait!!!!!!

I'd like that...At one point I intend to of travelled every inch of the map, and having something to go after would make it more worth while and would get me moving on to it alot quicker
On the side of that. Has anyone else notcied that half the people you talk to arent even aware of some places Eg. Dragons Gullet. Its a shame more people arent aware of these places. And your idea would atract attention to these places.

I agree, I really like exploring and would love to get a reward for it!

I like what's been said. How about this idea. I think it would also be fun to meet new and interesting characters in these areas to add incentive. Maybe these characters would give you clues to finding these other "goodies" that are out there. Or maybe they can tell more of the story that is going on. I guess I enjoy interacting with different types of characters whether they be evil, good, myterious, funny, powerful, weird, scary, or whatever.

Actually, World of Warcraft rewards you with XP when you discover new areas... Not alot but enough to encourage exploration. The only problem is, that game is so small, while GW has more to offer.
