My Red Priest Build

Ok I am a little new to the game.. So far I only have one other character a Lv5 (now a Lv1) Warrior/Mesmer, Provides the strength of a warrior with the healing and attacking spells of a mesmer...

Anyways my new build is Fire Elementalist/Monk. This is primarily due to the fact I love the Elementalist avatar, but I must confess I am a more physical type person .

I now I want Fireball, to stop incoming enemies and Flame Burst to attack occupied foes.

Spells like Meter, Meter Shower, Inferno, Phoenix, and Rodgort's Invocation all look sweet. My only critzism is that all the fire spells seem pretty much the same. Maybe one of you guys can help me indicate which ones would be better.

After playing only a few minutes with the Fire Elementalist I noticed heath is a huge problem when playing alone. So a monk is the obvious choice.

I plan on focusing only on healling magic as Smitting Prayers would be a waste of time.

The Attributes I plan on focusing on are:
Fire Magic
Enegery Storage
Healing Prayers
To tell you the truth I am a little in the dark on what to do, any direction would be much very helpful.

Re: My Red Priest Build

I can help ya out a little bit.

Fire elems are pimp But I have a question first, you also want to be doing healing as well with this character?

Aura of Restoration is a nice spell to heal yourself. It is tied to the energy storage attribute, and with a good energy storage you can heal ourself 300% or more your energy it takes to cast a spell. It is a enchantment that lasts 60 seconds. http://www.knights-templar.com/elementalist_skills.htm
Its the first skill. That is nice for a bit of self healing. Also "Fire Attunment" wich last for around 60 seconds will give you a 30% energy refund on spells you cast.

Before I give you a fire skills list of great skillsa nd there uses, do you want to commit yourself to full fire with the 2 skills above I said or are you gunna be like 4 fire skills and 4 healing.

Its been an on going dispute what to sub class as. The only reason I choose Monk was to get some good healing spells, that and Resurrect would make me a popular choice for a Guild Battle.

I believe Resurrect, Heal Other, and Heal Party should be all the usefull skills I need from the Monk Class.
I have to say I am more of a Soloing fan so picking a good sub class is important to me.

Re: My Red Priest Build

Alrighty then. By the way, soloing in guild battles is a hard thing to do, works better if you have agood build helpful lto the team

Now, since you want some healing, your fire wont be the best it can be since you have to split up the attributes.

Orison of Healing
Heal other
Heal Party
Immolate
Phoenix
Ridgorts Invocation
FireBall
Glyph of Energy

Fire 12 (10 plus minor rune and crown thingy)
Energy Storage 11-12 (minor rune there)
Healing 10-12

This is just a rough build, But orison of healing is a good healing spell with fast recharge. Heal other is more expensive but heals more. And you said you wanted heal party.

Now, for fire: Immolate causes damage and then starts them on fire. All around good spell.
Phoenix is a good area of effect, and also sends a fireball at target enemy with does additional damage. A firball and inferno mixed into one
Fireball s a strong fire spell, throws a fireball, what mroe is there to say.
Ridgorts Invocation is expensive, but major damage! Does damage to everyone in an area then sets them on fire.
Glyph of energy will help the cost of ridgorts, and anything else.

This build hopefully has what you want. I know you say you like to play solo, so i tried to get a variety of skills in there to keep you alive while doing some damaage, and also healing your teammates.

Re: My Red Priest Build

I would switch out Heal Party for ressurect. AS litebringer said, Heal party is not worth the energy especially not with out divine favour (primary monk attribute) It would also give you the capability to take some pressure off the monks by rezing some1.

Agreed.. If I was in a guild battle I would want to be attacking as much as possible, and if I was in a small group I wouldn't need to worry to much about heath during a battle against some monsters.

Thank you for the build Sarra Sweet and everyone else

Restore Life Is a great rez spell, it brings the person back to life with more health and energy. The only drawback is it is short range, but I thought you could compensate with your close range area of effect.

Now, for fire: Immolate causes damage and then starts them on fire. All around good spell.
Phoenix is a good area of effect, and also sends a fireball at target enemy with does additional damage. A firball and inferno mixed into one Very Happy
